Volunteer
Join the Film Festival Team for half a day and get a free all-access pass for the entire weekend!
We need the following volunteers:
Greeter/Cashier – You will great people in the theater lobby, hand out festival passes to those that paid for their pass online, sell passes to those that need to buy one, and sell hats and mugs. This year we have a credit card reader as well as cash.
Projectionist – You will need to have a basic knowledge of how to use a PC (not Mac) and be able to start a movie by double clicking on the film name, and display a PowerPoint slideshow between film blocks. You will be trained and see that it’s pretty simple if you understand basic computer operations. You will also have to dim the lights prior to starting the film and turn the lights up after.
Usher – You will stand in the lobby near the entrance to the auditorium and make sure people have a valid festival pass for that day before they enter the auditorium. The only time people can enter the auditorium without a pass is during the keynote address on Saturday from 3:45 to 4:45. Those without a pass will have to leave afterward or purchase a pass.
Moderator – You will moderate the Q&A. You can also be a projectionist at the same time. After a film or film block is finished playing (screening), you will walk to the front of the auditorium with a microphone, call anyone involved in any of the films to the front of the auditorium and then ask the audience if they have any questions. Please be prepared with a few questions of your own in case the audience doesn’t have any, such as what inspired you to make the film, how long did it take, lessons learned, etc. Then make sure the Q&A ends a few minutes prior to the next screening so people have time to use the restroom.
